Technical Lead

Bouygues Energies & Services (BYES) has an exciting opportunity available for a Technical Lead to be based from our Bristol office in Bradley Stoke.

Our team are currently working on the backup power plant and Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG) at the incredible Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Station project and we are now also in the bid phase for Sizewell C (SZC), a HPC replication project.

The Technical Lead would be involved in both the HPC and SZC projects.

Main Job Purpose:

Preparation phase Design / Procurement / Manufacturing for SZC. Assistance on auxiliaries Work Packages for HPC.

The Role:

Sizewell C Duties:

• Prepare the technical offer for SZC EDG, liaise with the EDG suppliers, prepare the cost evaluation.
• Liaising with HPC EDG suppliers to prepare duplication documents and their readiness to start manufacturing for SZC.
• Requirements mapping of the SZC Contract applicable documents.

Hinkley Point C Duties:

• Prepare technical responses to variation requests from the Customer, including costing.
• Address specific technical issues to enable start and progress of manufacturing of the auxiliaries equipment, liaising with the Work Package Leads, suppliers and NNB/EDF.
• Contribute to progress internal changes, optioneering, address specific technical issues.

Sizewell & Hinkley Duties:

• Technical assessment of suppliers bids, follow up technical clarifications.
• Review the deliverables issued by the auxiliaries suppliers and ensure that these meet the technical and quality requirements of the Client.
• Contribute to coordinate and manage the equipment interfaces with the Subcontractors and the Client.
• Monitor, review and prepare proposed responses to Client General Communications, RFI and claims in your area of responsibility, in coordination with the Work Package lead.

The person will ideally have:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline).
• 5+ years’ experience in a technical management role.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment.
• Good level of organisation and attention to detail.
• Experience within the nuclear industry or a desire to work in this industry.
