VSL UK are looking to appoint a Black Hat Supervisor for our JV with Freysinnet on Hinkley Point C.

The Black Hat Supervisor must help the Production Manager to drive the production and organize the work on site by allocating the appropriate resources and equipment in the different platforms he is in charge of, in the strict respect with Quality and Safety policy of the Project.
He coordinates the interfaces between FVH-JV teams and the different stakeholders (internal or external to his platforms). He is assisted by Engineers who brought him technical support.
He is familiar with multi-strand Post-Tensioning field and share his knowledges with the Blue Hat Supervisors to assist them in implementing FVH-JJ PT system on site.


Accountabilities and key tasks:

• Organize the work on site as per the approved execution procedure by allocating the correct resources and equipment for each team of his platforms.
• Assist the Blue Hat Supervisors by transmitting them all necessary information (3-weeks planning, RAMS…) to prepare the activities.
• Monitor the progress in his platform(s). All this information is paramount to keep an accurate cost of our work

• Check overall safety on site and that the site teams are working safely in compliance with latest RAMS.
• Launch and pick-up the work permits for the teams of his platforms in accordance with the 3-weeks planning (hot works and work at height).
• Make sure individuals / teams have safe work equipment and correct (general and specific if applicable) PPE for the duration of the task.
• Make sure everyone has the training which is necessary for their task in accordance with the Training Matrix and the tools / equipment / materials that they will be using.
• Ensure that the weekly checks of scaffoldings, working platform has been done by the competent company.

• Ensure that quality site records are dully filled in compliance with the Procedures and ITP during the activity.
• Ensure all quality site records related to its activity have been transferred to the Site Engineer at the end of the shift.

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience managing groundworks projects
  • SMSTS
  • Site supervision experience
  • Knowledge of UK Nuclear regulations

MCIOB or similar chartership
