Site Supervisor
Bouygues UK - Newport
Bouygues UK are currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to work on a new and exciting project in Newport. The project is a £45M 2-storey steel frame data centre, with a concrete inverted roof.
The role will require a strong focus on compliance and will be to assist the site manager predominantly with the civils and groundworks element of the project.
Job Purpose and Scope:
- To support the site manager in the co-ordination and control of the onsite construction process ensuring the site build progresses in line with plan.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Elements
- Ensure Agency operatives are carrying out tasks as directed by Site Manager and take action as appropriate to intervene where necessary.
- Check and ensure site lighting is in line with the project requirements and is adequate and compliant with safety standards and regulations
- Collection and input of delivery tickets in Bouygues record system.
- Have a general understanding of safe access and egress – raised floors, ladder to under floors etc and check for adequacy and compliance as directed by the Site Manager and required by safety standards and regulations
- Understand and a be a leader in a ‘Don’t Walk By’ culture and demonstrate a clear and demonstrable attitude to set the standards for the project..
- Demonstrate a Remove and Resolve attitude that reflects the standards and requirements set by the Project and Site Managers.
- Have a knowledge and awareness of Bouygues UK Safety standards generally . Take responsibility in assisting the Site Managers in delivering the project to these standards and legal compliance as an absolute minimum.
- Provide management direction to agency operatives in line with Site Managers requirements - should be able to undertake simple risk assessments.
Working Role
- Opening and Closing of the site.
- Regularly check Site tidiness and ensure it meets required standards and take collaborative approach to resolve matters.
- Ensure Site Access is clear and safe at all times and in line with site management plans
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of site accommodation to include canteen and toilet facilities
- Check and ensure cleanliness of mortar Silo area.
- Plant and Equipment – trained and competent in operating forklifts, banksman/slinger duties
- Semi Skilled tradesman with ability to carry out minor Works around site as directed by Site Manager. All such works to be properly planned and fully health and safety compliant.
- Pleasant ‘Can Do’ attitude instilling a positive culture on site
- Respectful personality when approached by clients.
- Flexible approach to working hours when required.
- Responsible for erection and maintenance of project branding, CCS banners, site wide way finder signs and other project signage.
- Assist sub-contractors in setting up of cutting, threading areas, i.e. specific restricted works in line with planned operations. Observational to improve compliance.
- Regularly observe access platform observations (harness etc) and ensure they comply with planned methodology and legislative requirements. Take corrective action as necessary and highlight concerns to appropriate site management. Trained and competent Fork Lift operator(would be beneficial)
- Manages delivery and unloading – responsible for ensuring this is done safely, materials deliveries are correct and key requirements like timber certification and chain of custody are correct.
Key Inspections
- Welfare, Hoardings and Perimeter of the site.
- Safe pedestrian routes around the site
- Awareness of material resources – masonry, mortar etc
- Check and inspect legal compliance of access towers and scaffolds tagging system – in place/current/up to date
- Ramps and trip hazards
- Site compound tidiness
- Lead inspections for damage to construction
- Trailing leads
- Fire points and safety stations check and maintain. Where required by the Site Manager act as Fire Warden (appropriate competency training to be provided)
