Bouygues UK has an exciting opportunity available for a Site Engineer to work on the Pentre Awel life sciences, health & wellbeing project in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.

The first phase of the project is £87M and will be located at the 83-acre Delta Lakes site on the Llanelli coastline. The health & wellbeing village will be made up 5 buildings including sports hall, leisure centre and research building. This is an exciting project where we are placing a strong emphasis on social value, ensuring that local people and businesses can reap the benefits of the scheme.

Job Purpose & Scope:

Responsible for ensuring line and level control on the project and quality compliance.  Supporting the operations team in delivering quality, environmental and health & safety processes whilst maintaining the critical path programme.

Accountabilities & Key Tasks: 

  • Be involved with the design process and procurement of subcontractors for the external works, façade and internal fit out.
  • Update and monitor the works programme for the area of responsibility, reporting promptly to the Project Manager any problems which may lead to time delays against works programme
  • Co-ordinate and attend meetings with the design staff and subcontractors
  • Manage the QVF file (quality plan of every subcontractor) and ensure work inspection records are done in compliance with it.
  • Undertake as built surveys and produce associated record drawings
  • Monitor and check supply chain setting out for compliance
  • Monitor and check works installed against the specifications for compliance 

Essential Criteria: 

  • Proven experience on building setting out (not civils biased)
  • Managing façade, Ground works, landscape and fit out contractors for spatial setting out and quality control
  • Competent with setting out equipment such as GPS, laser level and auto level
  • Experience working with a main contractor or large subcontractor
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produces accurate work.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to progress into site manager role
