Bouygues UK are looking to recruit a Senior/Principal Design Manager, with primary focus on design process/methods.  Based at our central London offices.

Job Purpose and Scope:

This is a key role in our preconstruction team, and will also give you the opportunity to work closely with the production side of our business.  Our projects offer challenging complexity for the right individual. We require and individual who can deal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and can manage the design process through all stages.  

Accountabilities and key tasks:

You will report to the Residential Head of Design (HoD) and support them in their role with particular importance being placed on:
  • Monitoring application of Bouygues design management procedures on site, ensuring consistency and assisting in establishing the need for additional training / mentoring that may be required or feedback on process where it requires review / update.
  • Maintain high level overview of design progress on multiple sites and escalate issues where not resolved at site level.
  • Assist in rolling out new strategies.
  • Ensuring that the Design Management team remain up to date with evolving best practice, regulation and providing honest 'lessons learnt' feedback from across the business and construction cycle.
  • Be the first point of contact in relation to any occurring design management issues that cannot be resolved at site level prior to further escalation.
  • Monitor deployment of the design management team and expected mission conclusion.  Assist in recruitment as and when necessary.
  • Support and ensure Design Managers receive learning & development opportunities to enable them to carry out their role to a high standard and progress their career within Bouygues.

Who are we looking for:

Essential criteria:

You will have an extensive design management process background with a focus on residential / mixed-use schemes.  Exposure to working within a pre-construction environment is preferred but not essential, however you should have a problem-solving mindset.  Additionally you will have excellent organisational abilities, communication and people management skills and be able to work autonomously as necessary but with a strong team ethic.

You will have an understanding of the application of design management, BIM, document control processes to ensure the highest quality of design in line with the programme is essential.   You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of all Bouygues processes from the outset.

Experience of working with a Tier 1 Contractors.
