Axione, a world leader in telecommunications infrastructure, has become the latest alternative network provider (altnet) to join the Independent Networks Cooperative Association (INCA) as it looks to expand into the UK market. In order to progress this new initiative we have a new opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our project delivery team in Glasgow. 

The role 

  • Work as part of project team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress, giving confidence in project status to senior management
  • Agree with Project Team the level of planning service and anticipated time allocation to provide that service
  • Provide mobilisation planning for each new region
  • To ensure that each week the programme is updated with a revised project dashboard for each live project
  • Hands-on planning preparing, in conjunction with production team, optimum working programme to meet project objectives
  • Contribute to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions
  • Undertake audits at each region to validate actual progress and associated certification is as the dashboard reporting report all finding
  • Communicate with other disciplines within the production teams to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme
  • Conduct meetings and communicate with the supply chain specialists to confirm suitable method and programme for scope given project specific constraints
  • To validate supply chain programmes and ensure that during the construction the actual plant labour on site is recorded within the programmes as a means of assessing contractor / sub-contractor entitlement
  • Will be required to summarise the projects status upstream to the senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns by means of project dashboards displaying the key KPI for each project
  • Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload to Line Manager as soon as it is apparent 

The person 

  • Ability to manage multiple project programmes running in parallel
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others
  • Use of specialist planning software (ideally Primavera P7, Synchro & Asta)
  • Knowledge of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UKin particular NEC
  • Possibility to commute between Glasgow and London
