Bouygues Energies & Services have been named preferred partner to develop a series of framework energy projects intended to support Cambridgeshire County Council and its regional local authority partners in meeting their commitment to decarbonising the region by 2050.
The estimated value of projects planned under the framework is £80 million and will include work to improve the energy performance of publicly owned assets, such as buildings and car parks, using measures to boost energy efficiency and generate low or zero carbon energy from rural estate, transport and other assets, opportunities for energy storage and low carbon heating solutions, including district and community heating schemes.
We are recruiting experienced Senior Energy Engineer to join our successful Renewable Energy team and support the development of low/zero carbon retrofits of existing buildings, including the deployment of ground and air-source heat pumps, waste heat recovery, solar PV arrays, energy storage and a variety of energy efficiency improvements. The role will be initially based in Cambridge with the potential to travel to other regions.
The role:
- Identification, collection, collation, and assessment of existing property information – production of energy and engineering baseline documents
- Coordinate and attend engineering surveys of sites (both high level and detailed) to establish existing energy performances and identify Energy Conservation Measures.
- Scoping and evaluation of engineering options to identify the best available technique to meet the clients’ brief
- Development and completion of project management documents, such as programmes, risk registers, project management plans, quality acceptance schedules, technical scopes of works, design specifications and scheme designs
- Preparation of proposal documentation, including technical narratives / scopes / specifications and supporting rationales and coordinate tendering of Design & Build subcontracts and evaluate supplier proposals to ensure technical engineering and commercial compliance
- Manage and mitigate technical and commercial risks associated with the delivery of our Energy Performance Contracts through interrogation of incoming supplier proposals
- Technical supervision of pre-construction design and installation of our Energy Conservation Measures as part of our Quality Assurance process
- Support with the development of metering and monitoring strategies as part of the Measurement & Verification Plan
The person:
- Full member of a relevant professional institution – CIBSE, IET, EI
- Mechanical or electrical design professional background with proven track of record within building services consultancy, contracting or construction environment
- Experienced in building services, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable building services design
- Ability to calculate energy savings / energy generation using sound engineering conventions and standard computational software confidently and accurately (i.e., excel)
- A good understanding of Measurement & Verification techniques and applicable industrial standards
- A strong commercial aptitude, interpersonal and communication skills
