We are currently looking to recruit a Regional Health & Safety Manager for our Highways and Local Government business unit. This role will cover site street lighting maintenance and installations projects across parts of Central London, Kent and Suffolk and thus this role will be a mobile role and will include a car or car allowance and other expenses when required.

This role will cover site street lighting maintenance and installations projects across parts of Central London, Kent and Suffolk.
This includes Highway Lighting, CCTV, EV charge points, Wi-Fi systems, Energy Connections and more.

The role

  • To attend planning meetings where required to ensure that H&S arrangements are
  • appropriately considered and integrated into the plan of works
  • To assist the Project Management team in effective regular H&S communication and
  • consultation with the workforce
  • Will be required to support a culture of open hazard and near miss reporting through engagement with management and operatives and provide advice for positive action and feedback
  • To ensure that incidents/accidents and dangerous occurrences are investigated to identify root cause and that appropriate remedial action is taken to prevent recurrence
  • Advise the BYES team on the completion of the monthly SafeSite performance indicators and that there is a strategy to improve scores month on month.
  • Support the workforce safety representatives and the safety committee to share best practice across the contracts/projects
  • To undertake regular health and safety audits and site inspections to support the operational team in the safe continuance of their activities
  • Provide advice for the production of risk assessments and suitable risk controls for the work undertaken at the contract/project
  • To undertake other appropriate duties as may reasonably be required within the by the business and line management

Essential skills

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent standard
  • Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent
  • Have previous experience in a H&S management role, within the construction, infrastructure, Facilities Management industries or from the H&S enforcement environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others effectively at all levels
  • Maintain their own professional competence

Desirable skills

  • Lead auditor to ISO:45001
  • Lead accident investigator with experience of root cause analysis
