Bouygues Energies & Services is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to support our Industrial Portfolio to be based in Manchester at least 50% of the time but the role location has a degree of flexibility.

The Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager will work with the Regional and Commercial Director and applicable project teams and assist through providing contract commercial management support within the project portfolio on the existing contracts as well as supporting the business development initiative.

The Role

  • To support the sales and operational teams in negotiating and executing customer and supply chain contracts in line with company guidelines and internal legal advice.
  • To carry out the commercial activities to meet the project objectives, by providing advice, guidance and support to the project team.
  • Ensure compliance and governance in respect to various forms of contract including JCT, NEC etc.
  • Ensure commercial and contractual awareness among colleagues, including contract deliverables, scope of service etc.
  • Handle the contract and execute financial reviews and continually monitor projected costs and control within budget.
  • Take ownerships of and be responsible for the project cost budget and provide guidance and direction as required, ensuring the division is in line with budgets and company processes.
  • Ensure variations to the contracts are priced and agreed at the earliest opportunity.
  • Ensure commercial control of projects are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor budgets and KPI’s across the different projects (turnover, margin, cash) along with project management teams to establish and control performance.
  • Prepare and present financial control/WIP/CVR documents and submit reports as required for month end results, forecast and activity reports.
  • Understand, interpret, and constructively challenge to improve processes and delivery business performance.
  • Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans

The Person:

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in of construction/M&E sector in a commercial role.
  • The ability to communicate, influence and challenge to deliver results.
  • Excellent team working skills and experience of dealing with project teams.
  • Experience of working with a main contractor or large subcontractor.
  • The ability to identify risk in project and implement and manage risks, procedures and contingencies.

 Desirable

  • Professional membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. RICS).
  • BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
