Bouygues UK are currently looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for our Cardiff office team, which covers all projects in the South Wales region.

The role will be project and office based and provides candidates with an opportunity to join a dynamic team, delivering an exciting project, combined with a large scope for progression within the business unit.

The role will involve supporting the Managing Surveyor, Senior QS and Project Director in the delivery of an exciting and stimulating project.

Job purpose and scope:

  • Maximise the commercial results of projects in terms of delivering optimum profit performance against internal budgets on a GC Works 1 form of contract
  • Maximise the cash position of the company
  • To liaise and collaborate with production & regarding all contractual aspects
  • Procurement of subcontractors including key packages such as RC Frame (£3m), M&E (£10m), Envelope (£7m).
  • Financial & contractual management of sub-contractors
  • Preparing and agreeing Interim Valuations with the Client and progressing the agreement of variations as the works proceeds utilising company tools.
  • Preparing timely monthly financial reports which accurately forecast net margin and activity utilising the company tools, procedures and rules.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager and other members of the project team
  • Obtain and understand the company reporting timetable, as well as key tools & procedures, including compass
  • Promoting the training and development of Graduates and Assistant QSs where applicable
  • Represent and serve the best interest of the company
  • Create and maintain strong internal and external relationships

Essential Criteria:

  • Emotional resilience and flexible mindset
  • Ability to understand and retain knowledge
  • Previous experience working on a similar project
  • Strong commercial awareness and focus on results
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and procedures accurate work
  • Proactive and confident communicators & shares knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years` experience working as a QS with a main contractor
Desirable Criteria:

  • Additional qualifications
  • MRICS or MCIOB
  • Familiarisation with BIM Level 2
  • Understanding of GC Works 1
