Project Manager - Site Construction
Bouygues UK - Tustin Estate
Can you be the main driver as the Project Manager delivering the strategy for one of our Flagship Regeneration Projects at the Tustin Estate in Southeast London (Old Kent Road, SE15). The scheme includes 250 replacement council homes and shared equity properties, 220 additional council homes including keyworker homes, and 220 homes for private sale to fund the works. The development also offers a central park, refurbishment of existing council homes and at least 1,800 sqm of commercial floorspace. In addition, the project will improve the public realm and landscaping across the estate, including new pedestrian, cycle and vehicular routes throughout, greenways, and improvements to Tustin Common.
Job Purpose & Scope:
To be responsible for the economic safe management of the site in respect of progress, workmanship, health, safety, environmental and quality standards by ensuring that adequate and proper labour, plant, materials and sub-contractor resources are available and adequately directed to meet the requirements of the contract.
You will have skills and experience in the following::
- Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Construction discipline
- Extensive experience working with a main contractor
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations
- Excellent Leadership and Financial Control skills
- Results oriented
- Thorough Understanding of UK H&S construction laws
- Stress Management skills
- High levels of quality standards
- Keen attention to H&S matters
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once
- Innovative and able to identify and implement new ways to do things to achieve better ways of working
- Has technical knowledge and is profit minded
General Duties:
- To be responsible for the site, health, safety and the environment, as contained within the Health and Safety Management System. Where unsure and assistance is required liaise with the appointed Health and Safety Advisor
- To actively lead by example at all times ensuring that all working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent and to the highest standards
- To ensure that the company gets the best out of its sub-contractors and suppliers, by proper selection and management in conjunction with the project team
- To work with the commercial and buying teams to ensure that the correct correspondence is in place to protect the company’s commercial and contractual position
- To ensure that for all activities you are responsible for, all company process/standards laid down in the Business Quality Management System are adhered to
- To consult with all disciplines, i.e. Surveying, Design Management, Buying, Planning, Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment, to provide effective management of contracts
