Bouygues TP are looking for a Project Engineer to work within the Civils Site Establishment team the role will report to the Principal Engineer. The Project Engineer will assist in the preparation of initial construction method statements and support constructability exercises, planning and procurement activities in connection with the Site Establishment works scope during the preconstruction phase.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Champion ‘Safe by Design’ and “Engineered Safety” with the designers’ and supply chain, to maximise the improvement to health, safety and wellbeing of all those engaged in and impacted by the project
  2. Operate within the processes and procedures of the CWA
  3. Develop engineering methodologies in the form of initial construction method statements which will be used to inform the designers’ detailed design and subsequently to form the basis of more detailed method statements for construction purposes
  4. Participate in meetings and workshops with designers’ and other stakeholders to provide construction engineering input in connection with constructability exercises, value engineering and options studies, including authoring reports on methodologies as appropriate
  5. Interface with all Internal NNB/CWA functions to ensure project and statutory requirements are understood and implemented and recognised in the engineering solution
  6. Interface with the relevant designers’ to obtain relevant information and to understand design constraints that may influence construction solutions
  7. Engage with other CWA functions including commercial, procurement, project controls, construction delivery, HSE etc. to ensure that technical issues are suitably understood and recognised
  8. Interface with the HPC project as required to capture lessons learnt / best practice to inform ongoing SZC engineering methods
  9. Review and challenge the designers’ proposals with a view to de-risking technical solutions, to promote and facilitate emergence of value engineering solutions, leading to reductions of quantities, costs and optimisation of the construction programme.

 

Core Skills:

  1. Strong knowledge of technical nature of the workstream – project infrastructure (roads, drainage, culverts, services, temporary buildings, fencing, security, ground treatment, foundations) and associated temporary works
  2. Ability to coordinate technical meetings/workshops with designers, specialist subcontractors and other stakeholders
  3. Ability to communicate and engage effectively at a range of levels: management team, client , designers, third party authorisers, subcontractors etc
  4. Ability to produce sketches, model views and detailed methodology to support production of method statements and option studies
  5. Ability to manage a team of Senior and Site Engineers
  6. Competent CAD skills
  7. Ability to utilise a 3D model to obtain information and visualisations
  8. Good knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans and project Quality procedures
  9. Ability to utilise collaboration tools for document management and technical review

 

Preferred Skills :

  1. Knowledge and experience of prefabrication and Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA)
  2. Knowledge and experience of sheet and bored piling
  3. Knowledge and experience of D-walls
  4. Knowledge and experience of sea defences
  5. Knowledge and experience of maritime structures
  6. Knowledge and experience of earthworks
  7. Temporary works design experience
  8. Temporary works management experience as appointed Temporary Works Coordinator
  9. Strong problem-solving skills
  10. Knowledge of environmental aspects of projects
  11. Skills in 3D modelling, particularly Revit
  12. Familiar with Asite collaboration tool

Qualifications :

  1. First degree in Civil Engineering
  2. Membership of relevant professional body, for example the Institution of Civil Engineers

 

Experience :

  1. Extensive engineering experience on civil engineering projects
  2. Delivery experience working for a civil engineering contractor
  3. Experience working on projects in power sector and/or nuclear sector is desirable
