VSL International (UK) have an exciting opportunity available for a Production Quality Engineer to join our team on the Hinkley Point C project in Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in working on one of the largest construction projects in the UK. A brand new £10B nuclear power station currently being built using some of the most modern, advanced and sustainable construction and engineering solutions, with the help of VSL's extensive international expertise gained from similar projects done around the world!

We are happy to consider junior applicants for this role, including recent graduates.

Job Purpose

Working within a joint venture organisation, you will be responsible for ensuring that the project quality objectives are achieved. 

Key Tasks & Activities 

  • Implementing and enforcing the Project Quality Plan and ensuring compliance to project specifications, procedures, Inspection Test Plans and related controls.
  • Using electronic management systems (SONIMS, Fieldview) to ensure information is made available to the project team.
  • Supporting and guiding the project team on ITP and WIR requirements.
  • Overseeing day to day activities that relate to the project’s scope to ensure conformance to procedural requirements, material specifications and process completion.
  • Assisting in compiling of Lifetime Quality Records with support and guidance from Quality Manager.
  • Coordinating quality controls performed on site and in workshop in accordance with ITP quality criteria ensuring project team can repeat compliance.
  • Assisting the Quality Manager in performance measurement (e.g., system audits, site inspections, culture surveys, incident data analysis) to inform the site management team of their performance and recommend appropriate continual improvement.

  • Strong administrative abilities, methodical and good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • IT skills including MS Office, Teams and Sharepoint
  • Analytical skills with a structured approach to problem solving
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Quality control experience or similar role
  • An understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems standard and related quality management principles
