VSL International (UK) are looking to appoint an experienced Procurement Manager to join our Project Team currently completing major infrastructure works at the brand new nuclear power station - Hinkley Point C, Somerset, England

The scope of work will include selecting, appointing and managing key subcontractors including preparation of enquiries, comparison, negotiation and issue of subcontract documentation. Also manage the staff under your control to ensure that they deliver the requirements of their job specification.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities of the role will involve: 

  • To support Operational teams and category byers in outsourcing, tendering and negotiation
  • To prepare tenders for standard contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
  • To develop tender analysis and present reports and recommendations to senior management
  • To negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors the terms and conditions, rates and service provided
  • To manage agreed contracts, renewals, negotiations, drafting variations and managing the central contract database
  • To manage supplier relationship and ensure that suppliers honour their commitments to price, quality and service delivery
  • To arrange regular supplier meetings and performance reviews with relevant stakeholders
  • To manage assigned key categories on a business wide perspective
  • To rationalise the supplier base and develop stronger purchasing leverage over key suppliers and subcontractors through negotiation of supply agreements
  • To provide procurement advice to the operational teams

Essential & Desirable Criteria


Essential:

  • Extensive experience in a Buying/ Purchasing role
  • Construction industry experience in a main contractor

Desirable:

  • Professional membership
