Internship - Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineer

BYES E&S UK Branch has been awarded a Turn-key EPC contract for the Hinkley Point C new build nuclear power plant Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG). This graduate internship placement within the technical team responsible for the design / manufacturing / qualification of the EDG system (Genset, I&C system and the auxiliaries) is assigned the following responsibilities:

• Liaise with Sub-contractors to follow –up on manufacturing deliverables
• Perform/Review Mechanical/Structural calculations, drawings and specifications
• Support Procurement and Manufacturing activities

The placement will be from March 2021 through to February 2022 and will include:

1 – Participate in review of Design-manufacturing deliverables

2 – Supplier/Sub-contractor development, evaluation and follow up

3 – Support development and adherence to design, manufacturing and quality control processes

Role specific knowledge

• Mechanical/Civil/Structural design for industrial projects
• FE Analysis capabilities desirable
• Nuclear context (desirable)

General knowledge:

• Industrial projects in the Energy sector
• Communication/organisation/Quality processes
• Notions of sub-contractor surveillance
