We have a great opportunity for a Grid Connections Engineer to join our highly successful Energy business; primarily supporting our solar and renewable energy projects. 

Bouygues Energies & Services design, install and commission large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint. It also means they can provide off-grid power in remote areas that can be sold back to the grid or used locally at a cheaper price than grid-supplied energy.

Key Activities

  • To interface with the DNO and the client’s grid engineer in order to have a clear understanding of the grid connection requirements associated with a project
  • To interface with the ICPs in order to ensure that all aspects of the project’s grid connection 
    documentation as well as G99
  • To interface with suppliers, subcontractors and team members (design, procurement, etc.) to ensure that these requirements are managed throughout the EPC and O&M processes, to include design and commissioning stages
  • To manage the various entities that produce grid studies (e.g. including but not limited to reactive 
    capability, fault ride through, LFSM-O/LFSM-U, harmonics G5/5, power quality P28) in order to ensure that the studies are accurate and correct, and to critically review the studies and liaise with the DNO on these outputs
  • To lead the G99 EON/ION/FON process for all relevant projects (mostly type C and type D PGMs) as well as to manage the relevant submissions (SAF, PGMD, etc)
  • To lead the G99 testing process on site (C.9.3., C.9.4., C.9.5, including model valudations C.7.8), liaising with the PPC supplier, inverter supplier, DNO etc., to prepare the test reports and discuss the results with the DNO
  • To keep abreast with all related advancements in this field and to monitor the ENA’s progress in related matters

Skills, qualifications, and experience

  • Experience in the UK Solar PV market
  • Hands on technical experience with grid connection of distributed generation, preferably solar farms
  • Conversant with G99 processes and good knowledge of all studies and pertinent DNO requirements
  • Qualified electrician (City & Guilds), testing and commissioning experience, knowledge of power engineering modelling software, grid connections specialist from a technical perspective
  • Experience in the Power Industry, esp. Electrical Power Stations and Oil & Gas, or other industries such as aerospace, water treatment, Data Centre, mining
