Graduate Site Engineer
VSL - Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater
VSL UK are recruiting for an Batching Plant Site Engineer to work on our prestigious Hinkley Point C project.
Job Purpose and Scope:
The Graduate Site Engineer is in charge of overseeing the grout manufacturing activity, ensuring all activity is effectively documented, planned and understood by the workforce. The Engineer must be hands on when needed.
Key Tasks and Activities :
- Execute project programme, work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
- Organize appropriate resources such as materials, consumables, plant and personnel and clearly communicate objectives.
- Communicate all technical up to date information to the site teams and update at any time if needed, plan and set out works for project teams.
- Keep the site teams well informed of project changes and communicate effectively relevant site information to the management team.
- Participate in client briefs, internal meetings and schedule planning based on discussion, inform project management teams of new developments.
- To provide accurate records of Works completed so to assist the Quantity Surveying Department in the production of Monthly Valuations.
- Supervise and control the production at the RR-batching plant and the Thixotropic Plant with the assistance of a black hat supervisor in accordance with approved RAMS and ITP.
- Supervise the maintenance of the batching plant in accordance with the maintenance plan.
- With the assistance of black hat supervisor, coordinate the works between the different stakeholders (Main Contractor, Subcontractors, Suppliers, External Service Provider, Visitors) interfering with the grout manufacturing activities.
- Operate the software of the RR-batching plant during during production and maintenance phase with the assistance of the technical engineer.
- Liaise with the manufacturer of the batching plant to correct, update and/or improve the performance of the software.
- Conduct quality controls measures on incoming raw materials and produced grout.
Essential and Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
- Civil Engineering degree (or similar)
- Strong IT skills, ideally intermediate in MS Office at a minimum
- Decision Making: ability to make decisions autonomously within the remit of the role and escalate through the correct channels where necessary.
- Problem Solving: capacity to overcome problem that may arise to achieve the initial target.
- Critical Thinking: inquisitive attitude in aim at constantly improving the production process to achieve ambitious project objectives.
- Keen to learn: having the required attitude and ability to learn a new domain and specific processes.
