We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Sizewell C (SZC) in Suffolk. As part of the Engineering and Technical function within the Civil Work Program organization, you'll play a vital role in managing geotechnical risks for the contractor alliance.

Your Role:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the onshore and offshore geotechnical conditions at the SZC site, guiding the management of geotechnical risks.
  • Lead the definition and specification of geotechnical trials and tests, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data to inform design and construction methods.
  • Collaborate with contractor teams to review technical reports, designs, and submissions, providing expert insights on geotechnical aspects.
  • Contribute to the implementation of SZC Scheme-wide Geotechnical Risk Management Strategy, including the development of risk registers and other procedures.
  • Assess risks associated with construction methods, offering strategic solutions to optimize project outcomes.

What You Bring:

  • Broad-based technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on constructive geotechnics relevant to SZC requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels and conveying complex concepts in clear, concise manner.
  • Proven experience in major project construction industry, with in depth relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in interpreting geotechnical data using industry-standard software, with experience in deep foundations, ground improvement techniques, and marine-based geotechnical engineering (desirable).
