Axione (part of the Bouygues Group) are currently looking to recruit an experienced Fibre Optic Planner / Surveyor interested in joining a major new player in the UK telecommunications sector, specifically FTTP/FTTH infrastructure projects.

Fibre Optic Planners / Surveyor :

Profile & skills required:

  • Your role will be to carry out complete audits of project sites prior to the commencement of works whilst supporting our in-house design department.
  • Horizontal pathway analysis (counting / identifying residential housing & detailing positions of work sites)
  • Vertical pathway analysis (visiting offices or other buildings) to accurately map their positions, pinpoint termination boxes, fixtures & fittings, positions of equipment & site access, whilst taking photos in order to support the design & production teams.
  • Verification of existing infrastructure / buildings to identify any potential problems.
  • Quality control. Ensuring conformity to strict quality standards and controls.
  • Experience of working at heights, in confined spaces & challenging field environments is essential (For example, in bad weather conditions) - We require candidates that are able to maintain & interpret records & daily work logs, data recordings & network design maps whilst always respecting stringent health & safety procedures
  • A full UK or EU driving licence is essential for these roles & constant travel around Scotland will be required
  • Must be able to read & count and take care of the equipment supplied and be able to operate a tablet type device.
  • You should be punctual, dependable, rigorous & have good interpersonal skills in order to deal with both clients & your fellow team members. We are looking for people who take real pride in their work.
  • Ideally you will have the relevant up-to-date certification in order to undertake this work. For example, Safepass, Manual Handling, 3-day Occupational First Aid & 3-day CSCS SLG (Signing, Lighting & Guarding).


Fiber optic installation and repair demands physical fitness, with some employees handling loads of up to 50 lbs (23kg) or more.

Workers will need to become proficient with construction equipment. Aptitude with hand tools, including cable jacket strippers, crimpers and diagnostic equipment is essential.
