We have a new opportunity for an experienced Highways Electrician to support a street lighting project Oxford. This role will also evolve to being part of the national project delivery team, this team covers the installation, connection, testing and commissioning of highway and street lighting electrical infrastructure across parts of the UK. 

The role:

  • Reporting to the Supervisor
  • Carrying out installation, testing and maintenance of Highways lighting assets. Fault finding/repair of power networks (dead)
  • Terminations, jointing, testing of lighting/power cables, termination testing of data cables
  • Submission of test certs, fault finding and repairs on power networks/data cables as required. To test and inspect electrical installation
  • To accurately complete all associated paperwork and electronic forms
  • Installation of lanterns and brackets via MEWP. Installation of tray work, trunking, cleated cables to structures/gantries. Installation of gantry mounted luminaires and signals.
  • Ensure that all works are adequately protected and the safety of the workforce, public and vehicles are maintained at all times
  • To adhere fully to Health & Safety responsibilities
  • Working 45 hours per week, able to work nights as required 

The person: 

  • City & Guilds 18th edition qualification and previous experience is essential, 2391 testing qualification or equivalent.
  • IPAF certificate
  • Confident working at height via a MEWP
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team with a proactive, flexible, can-do attitude
  • Must have full UK driving licence
