We have a fantastic opportunity available at Bouygues Energies & Services (BYES) for an Electrical / Electronic Engineering Graduate to join our Hinkley Point C team as an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer. The role would be based from our Bristol office but supporting the Hinkley project. 

It’s a very exciting time to be joining Bouygues! We have been delivering a Turn-key EPC contract for the Hinkley Point C new build nuclear power plant Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG).  

The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work alongside a group of very dedicated and knowledgeable individuals within our team, and be able to contribute to the work that we are carrying out on this innovative project.

This graduate placement within the technical team responsible for the design / manufacturing / qualification of the EDG system (Genset, I&C system and the auxiliaries) is assigned the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in establishing and implementing the I&C design modifications.
  • Follow up activities performed by I&C sub-contractors through design, procurement and manufacturing.
  • Follow up activities performed by Instrumentation and Heating systems sub-contractors.

Key duties during your first year:

1.    I&C definition and documentation updates.
2.    Support development and adherence to design and quality control processes.
3.    Support manufacturing follow up and surveillance.
4.    I&C Hardware qualification activities follow-up.

Graduate programme:

You will be enrolled onto our graduate programme which is a two year structured training scheme. The programme is designed to enhance and develop soft skills and technical capability through a blend of classroom based learning and on the job training. 

In your first year you will be assigned the I&C Engineer role as above. Beyond that, there will be the opportunity to either rotate within a different area of the business or continue in this role, depending on the business need at the time.

What you`ll need:

  • A 2:1 (or above) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control or similar.
  • Knowledge of industrial electric and I&C systems.
  • A genuine desire to work within the nuclear industry.
