Bouygues UK are searching for a Design Manager to add to the team, working on site on a key mixed use development in East London. 

The Design Manager will contribute to the daily design management, including the management of the Design Consultants, assisting / leading the liaison between the Design Consultants and the project staff for design matters. When required the Design Manager will liaise with Site Manager / Preconstruction for the development of design packages and procurement strategies.

The Design Manager will:

- Understand client requirements/output specs
- Assist in the review of and if required undertake a review of the Design, procurement and construction information to ensure it complies with Project documentation
- Assist in the review of and if required undertake a review of design output and verifies its compliance with Client`s output specifications BYUK`s Contract Proposals submission and Statutory requirements
- Prepare monthly report on Activity to DM
- Prepare the Design Management Plan (DMP)
- Prepares design programme in line with procurement strategies (developed by the Commercial Manager / Construction Manager)
- Define scope and responsibilities of all parties involved in the design process
- Attend contract review meetings
- Organise, chair and record Client Design Meetings
- Organise, participate and record Design Review Meetings
- Participate in whole life specification issues
- Prepare consultant deliverables in line with procurement programme.
- Manage the designing subcontractors (for the design only) when delegated by the Project Director/Manager
- Co-ordinate the Reviewable Design Data approval process


Essential:

- Architectural or Design qualifications
- Good knowledge of the design process, at commercial and construction design stages with a main contractor.
- Understands the RIBA plan of work
- Good all round technical knowledge.
- Working knowledge of building regulations.
- Understanding of key design principles such as M&E design parameters, fire and acoustic requirements.
- Understands the principles of Building Contract and Consultant Contracts
- Good knowledge of contractual issues related to consultants
- Good presentation skills
- Management of meeting process
