Bouygues Energies & Services (BYES) has an exciting opportunity available for a Cost Controller to be based from our Bristol office in Bradley Stoke.

Our team are currently working on the backup power plant and Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG) at the incredible Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Station project and we are now also in the bid phase for Sizewell C (SZC), a HPC replication project.

The Cost Controller’s main focus will be on the SZC project, with some involvement on HPC too.

Main Job Purpose:

To develop the financial offer of SZC in compliance with BYES governance rules and the commercial deadline. In collaboration with the HPC Cost Controller, set up SCZ future cost control system, tools and reporting model. Be part of HPC routine operation to ensure smooth and timely reporting (monthly closing) and to perform SCZ reporting. 

The Role:

  • Under the management of HPC Finance Director, update SZC non-binding offer up to final offer (SZC contract appendix 5). 
  • Preparation and valuation of Appendix 5 rates required in SZC final offer, including calculation of unitary price applicable to contract variation for labour, care and maintenance, storage, transportation etc.
  • Producing regular progress report and data to HPC/SZC Management for internal governance (kick-off, interim report, warp-up,) and external commercial meeting with SZC team.
  • Maintaining comprehensive registers of financial approvals, and ensure full trackability of the SZC offer.
  • Organise and run cost control to monitor SZC pre contract budget. And report on budget consumption (mobilisation plan) in EDIFICE on monthly basis.
  • Liaise with Bouygues UK head office and support services (Treasury, DRA, UK shared services) to ensure timely and proper involvement of support service (insurance, HR...) to receive quotation, and timely and proper involvement of Treasury for financial commitment (bonds), bank account needs and set up.
  • Set up project Cost Control System for SZC future Contract (EDIFICE) including developing a matrix to report budgets and costs in EDIFICE, and preparing the reporting for SZC.
  • As part of the EDG finance team, ensure that the reporting for both HPC and SCZ is performed efficiently and mutualised (when possible) between cost controller under common responsibility and equal share of the workload.
  • Liaise with Bouygues UK head office services (accounting and RH) to provide the project team with appropriate accounting and payroll support (registration, up-date and rules flow down).
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.

The person will ideally have:

  • Relevant Cost Control/Cost Engineering qualifications.
  • 2+ years’ experience of financial process including forecasting and cashflow.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Power point.
  • Good organisation, attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
