Commercial Finance Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Commercial Finance Management Team to support a variety of Energy, Highways and Local Government projects. The Commercial Manager will be responsible for enabling enhancement of commercial and financial performance in operations by analysing, auditing, and proposing improvements to systems, as well as evaluating contractual relationships and ensuring that the company is receiving the full benefit of value entitlements from our client partner.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Taking responsibility and managing the production of monthly financial results (P&L and balance sheet). Ensuring that the necessary data are available in a timely and accurate manner
- Presentation of meaningful trends and analysis to enable your internal stakeholders and customers to make informed decisions. Provision of internal and statutory audit justifications as required.
- Reviewing the commercial impact of the performance monitoring system
- Reviewing and leading the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the contract(s) and risk analysis
- Leading the production and analysis of indicators based on all business areas, such as invoicing, debt, personnel, purchasing, allocations, productivity, and stock control, and notify managers of trends
- Identifying new contract procedures which will enable optimisation of managing each construction//service to the most cost-effective level based on the output specification
- Resolving contractual claims, as applicable, when commercial shortfalls are apparent
- Conducting detailed contract reviews, including cost analysis with travel as necessary, to support Commercial Finance Team, operational management, and quantity surveyors
- Reviewing the contract for general auditing of financial and non-financial obligations as well as for responding to commercial queries from the budget holders
- Managing staff working across a wide geographic area
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with proven management accounts experience
- Ability to work with numerous stakeholders including Senior Managers and Directors within a group
- Excellent communication skills with confidence and ability to question assumptions
- Flexible approach with willingness to travel to multiple operational sites
- Self-motivated with ability to multi-task, and take initiative to work independently
