Reporting directly to the Residential Business Unit MD we are looking to appoint a Commercial Director to lead on all business commercial activities for our projects in London and the South East.

This is a senior leadership role and you will be a key member of the Residential Executive Committee working jointly with the MD to develop commercial strategies to positively impact the Business Unit.

Key areas of focus will include:

· Accountability for operational excellence in respect of commercial elements of production activity including strategy, subcontract procurement, risk management, pre and post contract, margin improvement and people development

· Contribute to the development, implementation and successful delivery of the Business Plan

· Propose and agree with the Regional/ BU Director appropriate commercial strategies

· Ensure focus is maintained by operational teams so that both profitability and cash performance are optimised

· Ensure that commercial processes and procedures set by the company are utilised consistently

· Lead on and provide a focus for the recruitment, develop and management of commercial team members

· Contribution to commercial and contract strategy for tenders, attend and contribute to all pre-contract point meetings

· Anticipate and co-ordinate appropriate responses and develop strategies for the resolution of formal disputes with clients and sub-contractors

· Act as a liaison between the Business Unit and the Legal Department

· Ensure that the Business Unit maintains appropriate commercial relationships with the supply chain and adheres to the company’s wider supply chain strategies

 

Profile & Requirements:

 

· Significant experience in commercial leadership having previously worked on residential schemes ranging from £50M to £100M+ under both traditional contracting arrangements and a development approach

· Strong leadership skills, including experience of managing and developing teams, and the confidence to successfully lead, influence and communicate at all levels to deliver targets

· Evidence of managing a portfolio of projects

· Experience in managing complex formal disputes with the Supply Chain, Consultants & Client

· MRICS (or MCIOB plus extensive experience)

· Experience of managing and resolving adjudications
