A fantastic opportunity has arisen with Bouygues UK for a BIM Coordinator to join our Technical team, to be based from either our Bristol or Cardiff office.  

The BIM team covers all of our projects in the South West & Wales regions, so the role will require periodic travel to our various project sites across the region, and you will have the opportunity to work on some very innovative and exciting projects.  

The Role:

This is both an office and project based role, managing and undertaking BIM tasks and supporting the BIM manager.

Job Purpose and Scope:

  • Further development of in-house BIM capabilities within Technical Department through the interrogation and implementation of new BIM software and new/emerging technology
  • Support allocated project team with model manipulation /review requirements
  • Carry out in-depth multi discipline model assessments at regular intervals, including checks (Geospatial alignment, LOD/LOI, naming conventions etc)
  • Model federation – combine multi discipline models and upload to CDE
  • Monitor consultant model uploads and ensure models are being uploaded in good time for DTM/Collaborative review
  • Undertake visual and automated checks on multidiscipline models (Revit/Navisworks/Solibri)
  • Create, disseminate and monitor model based issue reports
  • Modelling of specific areas / items of interest that have not been modelled by the consultant team (site/temp accommodation, hoarding, landscaping etc)
  • Review of consultant Building Information Models (visual interrogation & detailed interrogation utilising specialist software)
  • Production of clash detection reports within specialist software
  • Attend BIM Design Review Meetings to discuss / review clashes identified within combined BIM and ensure consultants are in compliance with Bouygues UK’s BIM Standard and Project Execution Plan
  • Interface with setting out and surveying engineers to accommodate efficient use of digital technologies during construction
  • Integrate Point Cloud data for as built checks/Model verification
  • General support role to BYUK Design Management Team throughout project. Support on BIM specific processes and procedures if not acting directly as the BYUK BIM Coordinator.
  • Production of conceptual & detailed model (Architectural and Structural BIM’s) for internal and external purposes
  • Modelling of specific areas or items specific to the construction phase that have not been modelled by the consultant team but would be valuable to BYUK team. (i.e. stair case with handrails and balustrades)
  • Phasing and sequencing of either the whole project for presentation to the client or particular complex detail for the site team
  • Technical assistance to other parts of the Technical Department during BIM implementation, (e.g. methods if project requires logistics information to be produced in 3D)
  • The ability to provide Revit and Navisworks training to BYUK employees
  • The ability to manipulate the metadata contained within the model(s)
  • Implementation of BIM for Drones

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Delivery of Clash detection viewpoints doc in advanced of BIM Review meetings
  • Delivery and dissemination of Clash detection/issue reports whilst managing clash issue reporting process and ensure participants are contributing
  • Delivery of Model assessment reports
  • Delivery of conceptual architectural/ structural models
  • Support Design and Construction team members with BIM/modelling related issues
  • Provide Revit and Navisworks Training Sessions to BYUK employees


Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Essential:

·       The candidate must be from either an Architectural, Structural or Mechanical and Electrical background

·       The candidate must hold either Architectural, Structural or MEP professional qualification(s)

·       Knowledge of the construction industry and current building regulations is vital

·       A working knowledge of multidisciplinary working practices and interdependencies is fundamental
