Bouygues UK are looking to recruit an Assistant Estimator based at our central London offices. Job Purpose and Scope:

You will be working within the Bid Team under supervision and guidance of the Senior Estimators for the preparation of a fully considered submission.  You will enjoy guidance of experienced supervision in order to learn and develop the skills necessary to prepare accurate cost plans and detailed estimates to enable the company to fulfil its business objectives.

Essential criteria:

  • Ability to undertake GIFA and basic area, length and number measurements from drawings and align to tender requirements and specifications
  • Experience in preparing high level budgets, demonstrating understanding of all aspects required
  • Capability to prepare tender package enquiries, good knowledge of the information required
  • Experience of working with process and policies
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal skills and  attention to detail
  • Good experience/understanding when reviewing subcontractor tender returns, and aligning prices

If you also have experience in Bluebeam take-off software and/or, Causeway Estimating Software & E-Tender that would be advantageous.

Accountabilities and key tasks:

•       Assist the Estimators and Senior Estimators to achieve the deadlines set

•       Undertake site visits to gain knowledge of tenders

•       Assist with compiling sub-contract enquiries tracking document and ensure it is updated throughout tender

•       Undertake production of subcontractor enquiries and issue for preliminary plant items such as scaffolding, lifts and hoists etc

•       Evaluate the tender information and prepare detailed schedules (along with other members of the Bid Team). Raise queries relating to the tender documentation

•       Clearly scope subcontractor and material enquiries and issue to agreed list

•       Evaluate and compare quotations received, supported by Senior Estimator’s

•       Consider alternatives which may produce financial or programme advantages, supported by the Senior Estimators

•       Produce clear reports in either estimating software and standard applications to present Estimate for consideration by Senior Estimators and the Head of Estimating

•       Strong Governance skills

•       Ability to work to conflicting deadlines on multiple bids

•       When in contact with clients and consultant teams to act at all times in accordance with the Company’s values as an ambassador ensuring that working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent with the highest standards
